Camper Trailers Vs. Camper Tents - which is better to have?
Posted on: September 1, 2011
Camping under the stars has always been my dream, just traveling around Australia with my family in tow. So set our minds on buying a camper trailer to be our home away from home. My husband and I looked at both: on- road trailers and off- road trailers to make sure we'd get good value for the money. We managed to find and purchase one of the off-road australian camper trailers, which other companies were selling well out of our price range. As we now have 3 children, we needed a bigger trailer which would provide enough room for them to play in any kind of weather. So this time we decided to buy a camper tent as we had a trailer.
It is quite nice someone to give you an advice before buying anything, we would have appreciated any advice given, so I would like to do that for every buyers of camper trailers/ tents, based on our experience.
- Camper tent can be found in many sizes, shapes, and prices, even I found it on internet so called "the most inexpensive shelter" which can be stored not only in your garage but in your closet too. It gives you a place to sleep, but it is a storage space too. And if you pick a bigger one (wide and long) certainly you will have a space where you children can even play "hide and sick". For those who climb mountains, camper tent is inevitable.
- Camper trailers will certainly have a higher price. They need to be raised by a mechanical method. Also have extra weight that can be difficult to tow.A car top camper also named roof top camper tent, is also expensive but needs only 5 minutes easy setup. It has a solid floor, comfortable mattress built right in, good ventilation, and can be easily stored. There are on-road and off- road trailers. Our off –road trailer has a cooler, a gas bottle and a sink. I consider buying a bike rack as well. A pickup truck cargo bed with tent attached has lower price, but it has less storage space and ventilation, and a steel floor for sleeping.
All in all, camper trailer offer a more complete solution with a tent in it for the road, and a huge space for storage. Whatever you will decide to buy, when choosing a tent along with your trailer it is a good idea to have windows placed one against another so the wind can go through, and also make sure it is made of waterproof material.
